Week 4

Evenin' folks!

We had a delay this week and what may have also been a set-back. The digital scale at the gym is broken. The scale I have at home is wholly unreliable, so I try not to hitch my hopes to it. So when I skipped weighing in Wednesday, came back tonight to try after my workout and STILL found it broken, I decided to try the manual scale. You know, the kind with the little weights that slide along the bars? Well, THAT one was working. Trouble is, I'm wondering if a) either of them are inaccurate or if b) I actually gained 4 pounds this week. If so, shame on me for not trying hard enough!

There were quite a few hurdles, I guess. Pizza night AGAIN on Friday, big lunch and dinner out on Saturday, and days like Tuesday, when I couldn't get enough to eat! Not sure what the deal was. But with one sleepless night, and one sick day, I still got in three workouts this week. Hoping for better results next week. I'll also do measurements and see how that end is going!

Happy weekend all!

Week 3

Good afternoon!

Back again to check in. Another good week, though not as big of a loss as last week. This could have had something to do with my hurdles this week, which included pizza on Friday night (which I ate after a few glasses of wine! oops!), a night of snacking on Saturday and movie popcorn, candy and soda after a healthy dinner on Sunday.

Life has been pretty good otherwise. There is a lot to look forward to with fun weekends away, a big wedding week coming up in May and tons of free time to visit places around Philly and hang out with Dylan and friends in the meantime. I think I'm even going to try scheduling visits with my parents and Josh and Kristi- they need to come visit! Work has been going well also. We're ramping up new projects, which has kept things fresh. All around, life is good.

Looking forward to a pizza night with Dylan's sister and her boyfriend at my house this Friday, followed by a dinner party with our friends and their adorable little girl! Here's hoping I can finish out the week strong and do a little better this weekend than last.

We'll see how it goes!

Week 2

Hello blog readers!

I'm back this week with good news. I've made more of an effort, and it paid off. I worked on eating healthy lunches and portion controlled dinners, getting both fruits and veggies in each day, and watching my dessert intake on the weekends.

Hurdles this week included: tempting fries out at a hockey game (I had a few), dinner out at an Irish pub (I got a veggie wrap!) and yummy carrot cake and cheese w/ crackers Sunday night (I did ok...).

I'm excited for this weekend, which is bringing my friend and former roommate, Jess, over for pizza night (can I have just one slice?) and dinner and a movie with Dylan and his mom on Sunday.

We'll see how it goes!

I haven't had a TV or cable for months since I moved to my new home. I finally got a TV, and bought the Roku so I could stop watching shows on my computer. It has changed my world! I love listening to Pandora through the Roku when I get home, and I can now multitask, watching a show and getting caught up on work in the evenings. It also making working from home so much better! I'll never have to watch a show on my laptop in my living room again!

Week 1

Hey y'all! Not sure who out there has remained a follower since I haven't posted in about 6 months (oops), but I'm back for now!

I have been working on losing weight for almost 3 years now, ever since I moved to Philly. I've lost about 80 or 90 pounds thus far, and lead a drastically healthier lifestyle than I did in the past. I've made major changes to what I eat, how much I eat, and incorporate physical activity (both walking and working out) into my life at least 5 days a week. I have spent the past 8 months in an amazing new relationship, and though being in love has made me want to keep healthy and fit, it's also brought many new eating adventures- big brunches, dinners out, HAMBURGERS...ice cream. As a rule, since I've been losing weight, I did not want to put anything off limits. I've maintained my loss since meeting Dylan, but haven't lost too much more weight.

Cue a May wedding with the largest J. Crew size bridesmaid dress that I bought on sale and have only a few short months to zip up! (It's about 3 inches from closing, around one of my widest parts.)

I've been hovering about 30-35 pounds from my goal weight for almost a year, so I thought what better time than now to get in gear? Some people are doing it for a new year's resolution, I'm doing it to finish a resolution I made to myself in 2009.

So here goes. I'm aiming to cut calories (while still enjoying my life), and be more active than I was last year (150 workouts for the year is my goal!)

Starting Stats:

Hips- 46"
Waist- 37"
Belly- 43"
Rib cage- 42"
Bust- 45"
Upper Arm- 15"
Upper Thigh- 28"
Calf- 17"
Weight- 217lbs
30 Min. Run- 2.2 Miles
Pounds from goal- 33lbs

Wish me luck, and I'll try to check in at least once a week :)
